Providing evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention to the Canberra region
About Me
I'm Jack, a registered psychologist working across both public and private sectors. I am passionate about supporting people to understand themselves and the struggles they may be facing.
I have experience working with complex presentations including psychotic illnesses, severe mood disorders, cognitive and intellectual disabilities, and personality disorders. I have particular interest in working with child and adolescent mental health and forensic mental health populations.
My practice is centered around promoting hope, recognising strengths, and working with compassion and care. My role is to create a safe, respectful space where you feel comfortable sharing your story, so that our work represents the full picture of who you are - not just a diagnosis or a checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions
The initial session is designed intentionally to be longer than a standard session. This will allow us time to complete intake assessments, discuss the service agreement, understand your main concerns, and develop an assessment or treatment plan together - without feeling time pressured or rushed
Referrals are not required to access my services, however information from a GP (including medications and medical history) may be helpful and appropriate.
If accessing my services via a MHTP for therapeutic intervention, a referral by a medical practitioner is required.
Each consultation fee includes the following services;
Face-to-face therapy time with client
Outside-of-session treatment and session planning
Materials
Brief (up to 10 minutes) phone consultations
Referral calls, if applicable
Brief consultation with care teams or health professionals, if appropriate
Written correspondence with GP, if applicable
All sessions will be booked and paid through an online software platform called Halaxy. Before your session you will be sent a link to a patient portal which will allow you to have full control over your invoices, appointments, and payments from your own device.
Psychologists are qualified and registered under AHPRA to diagnose mental illnesses. However, payment for an assessment or session does not assure a diagnosis, and will only be provided if it is clinically appropriate.
Sometimes it is unavoidable to miss a session - life happens!
However, to best support my services, please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment.
A 50% cancellation fee will be charged if cancelling within 24 hours of the appointment.
A 100% cancellation fee will be charged for non-attendance without notice.
Generally, these fees will be automatically charged to the nominated debit/credit card on record. Otherwise, an invoice for payment will be sent.

Why is Personal Information Maintained?
In line with the Health Records (Privacy and Access) Act 1997 (ACT) and Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Conduct (2025), all records are required to be stored securely by the health practitioner. For adults, all records will be maintained for a minimum of seven years from the last entry date or service. For children or minors, records will be stored until the client turns 25 years old. Following these time periods, records will be deleted or confidentially destroyed.
A client’s personal information is also gathered and used for the purpose of providing therapeutic services, including assessment, clinical formulation, and treatment of a client’s presenting concern/s.
Disclosure of Personal Information
In line with legislative and professional requirements for the release and sharing of personal information, clients’ personal information will remain confidential and not be disclosed, unless:
1. Information is legally subpoenaed by a court; or
2. Where a practitioner forms the reasonable belief that failure to disclose specific information poses a significant risk to the safety/life/health of the client or another person; or
3. Where prior consent to share information has been obtained, including to:
a. Provide a written report to another professional or agency (e.g., another healthcare provider); or
b. Discuss the material with another person (e.g., a family member/carer, employer, or health provider); or
c. Disclose the information in an alternate way; or
4. Disclosure is otherwise legally required
In the event that disclosure of personal information is required, wherever possible, a client’s practitioner will make effort to inform the client of the need to disclose information and the form of information being disclosed (e.g., for the purpose of communicating, and responding to, risk-related concerns).
Access or Amendments to Information
At any time during and following the provision of services, clients may request to see and amend personal information maintained in their clinical record. The practitioner may discuss the contents of the requested information with the client, and/or give them a copy of this information, subject to exceptions outlined in Australian privacy legislation.
If a practitioner is satisfied the personal information requires amendment due to inaccuracies, outdated and/or incomplete information, reasonable steps will be taken to ensure relevant information is amended.
All client requests for accessing/amending personal information should be submitted in writing to jack@daveypsychology.com.au. These requests will be responded to in writing within four-weeks. The requesting client may be contacted and/or be asked to attend an appointment (telephone or face-to-face) if required for clarification purposes.
